Tauranga——The Bay of Plenty

The searching of Kiwi Fruit lead me to the Kiwi City, Tauranga.
Which located at the Bay of Plenty

At first I booked the YHA Tauranga…
But the reception told I come earlier 1 day before the booking…
What a bad mistake I made!
Finally I went to the closest BBH——Loft 109 to over this night…
Cost: 25 NZD/night

The BBH located on the shop lot, similar to my brother’s House of Kititto…
I was arranged to a 7person dorm, and I only a Malay from Malaysia before I leave…
He’ll be working in a Packhouse in Tauranga~
There is a balcony on the top floor which provide some sea view (Forgot to take some photo)
But it only offer 50MB of internet data… which only can update some facebook and twitter…

Since I found a place to stay, time to worry about my dinner~
On the way to Pack’,Save, I accidently saw the sunset in Tauranga…
The amazing light ray chase away my hunger, build up the passion of photography~
Finally, I spend 20 minutes to complete a Time Lapse and some HDR photo…

The Next day, I immediately changed to YHA and talk a walk in Waikareao Walk

Since I have a pastor move to new zealand and have a church in Tauranga…
I start my first International Sunday Service~

As the son of our Heavenly Father God, There is home when there is church~

Then, I check-in to the YHA, and they arranged me to a 6 person dorm…
I met 1 Korean who working as a waitress in Tauranga, and 1 Europe who waiting for a job…
During the day I stay, there are 3 indians move in our dorm…
One of their snoring cause the whole room can’t sleep whole night!
Finally experience the power of snoring~
As overall, I like the YHA so much, clean and wonderful environment, and it own Bush Walk~
It’s also a 4 star Backpacker…
Cost: 22.5 NZD/night

The most important, it offer unlimited Wifi!

A next day,I took the Bay Hopper to the Pack House around Mt. Maunganui ask for a job…
Cost:3 NZD/Trip

Pack House联系~ Pack House Contact~

Since there is no job, I take a walk to Mt. Maunganui~

After taking the walk, still thinking to take a hot salt bath under the Mt.
But received a call from agent about work available in Motueka…
Finally leaving Tauranga a rush~

Bay of Plenty, Tauranga YHA, on day i’ll be back!

Auckland City——1 day Trip

Because there was 1 friend in Auckland, I’ll stay in Auckland City for 1 night~
For this time, I stayed in a BBH, first time in NZ BBH…
Still couldn’t get use the environment with a group of Europe…
But I believe I’ll perform better~

10 in the morning, I took bus from Botany town to Oakland Lodge in Mt. Eden…

About 1pm, I met my friend, J who studied in Auckland University…

It felt warm when meeting someone I know in Malaysia at NZ~

We take a walk around Auckland City~
When reached Sky Tower, we have insufficient fund to get up to sky tower…

贵了一点吧~ A little expensive for me~200米... 200m...

So only get some photo from below~

抬头仰望,look upon the tower

Next, free place was our choice——Art Gallery…

Art was language, and it’s hard to understand~

Found something Interesting in Art Gallery Shop. (You see the Point?)

On the way, saw a special building, I’m still thinking how the top floor made~

Finally, We have Malaysian food for our dinner~

It feels different when having local meal outside the country!

I ordered a Nasi Dagain Rendang…(Ops, No Photo)
Cost: 12.90 NZD
Finally, I ate the short rice agin (In NZ is long grain)
But beef is local beef, fresher~

Meal was expensive, but confirm full!

Then, J treat me with local famous ice-cream,
Cost: 5.60 NZD/scoop
I ordered Maple Walnut flavor~
Again, un-describable good!

Because of transportation problem, I ended 1 day trip 1 NZ~
But I feel stratify with the scene I see, the food I ate!
It was the first time I ate a meal more than 10 NZD in NZ…

Thanks mate! I’ll come back Auckland to treat you again when I earn money!

谢谢你,朋友!Thanks mate!

Second day, I was thinking to went to a church for Garbage sale…

St. Barnabas
If can, I would like to go up to Mt. Eden to take a full view of Auckland City…
But unfortunately it was a rainy and cold morning~

Thanked God the rain stopped at 9.30
My first plan was taking a 10am bus to CBD and took 1pm bus to Tauranga…
But Mt. Eden was in my sight, and the weather is so good!
So I take the risk of miss bus, climbed up the mountain~

Because of taking risk, Finally I can see the full view of Auckland City!

On the Mt. I saw the insane training of the NZ rugby team~ (See what they holding)

地狱训练!Hard-core Training!

About 11am, I straight away go to CBD…
But there was a triathlon host in Auckland City, All the road had been blocked!
At last I have to bring my luggage over the huge slope~

The view along the way was wonderful~

教会?Church?

Finally, thanked God I still able to get on my bus on time~

Auckland City, see you in August!

Days in Ashley Homestay~

The First station in NZ is Ashley Homestay, A lovely warmly homestay~

Ashley HomestayAmy姐与Ashley, My host Amy and his daughter Ashley

Here was a really lovely place to start my NZ Journey, the host, Amy is really lovely person!
There were also many Asian, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia whv here~
We could exchange a lot a infromation here…
The most thankful thing was Amy provide 1GB internet data per week! (It’s really big in NZ~)
Cost: 120 NZD/week

I almost stay for another week here~

Beside, the closest town, Botany Town Center was only located 500m away…
Inside the town, you can open IRD account, Bank Account and buy stuff (New World, Pack’nSave, Count Down are located here)
If you were a walker, you can reach a China Town and Second Hand Shop (Family Store aka The Salvation Army)

Salvation Army中国城,China Town

For Backpackers, second hand shop was a great place to buy travel stuff!
shoes 2 NZD, cloth 4-10 NZD
Unfortunately this family store has less shoes, I still couldn’t find my trekking shoes~

But here was a little bit far away from Auckland City and some famous points…
All of these place only can go by bus or car, and the bus fee in NZ was expensive!
But they were selling one day pass, which provide unlimited trip in 1 day for only about 16 NZD.
So you can travel all the place in one day, since there are not much view points in Auckland too…

Beside waiting for my IRD number and Bank Card, I spent my day on thinking what to eat~

Out Topic: Actually the Bank card aka Eftpos is very convenient on buying stuff.
It is because the normal counter was providing service for buyer with 12 items or more…
And the others just when to self-check-out counter to make their payment by themselves~
But only card payment accepted.
So I had to queue at the normal counter .
(But sometimes local kiwi will give turn when they saw you buy a little stuff)

On topic:
About eat, that was always a truth: Self cook was the cheapest~
if self-cooked, 1 meal could be less than 3 NZD…
but the problem was shop always sell in bundle, so it’s hard to achieve self-cook since I was alone and staying for short term.
(For instance I brought the smallest pack of rice, 1kg, and only eaten 1/3 for 3 meals, the remain I had to left it in homestay for easy travel)
If eating outside, the cheapest is above 5 NZD, and the cheapest was fast food… (except Pizzu Hut, 4.90 NZD)

What after eat was play~
Since it’s a city, there was cinema, library too…(But I am not going since they can found in Malaysia)
But there were also some good scene in the City!
Because in NZ they will partition some area as reserved area~
They built up filtration pond (avoid waste flow into sea), and modified it to a lovely pond with fishes and ducks…

The reserve I go today:

Time to introduce my camera——Olympus TG-2 (spent a lot of money…)
And brought a Octopus Tripod from E-bay… (Thanks God it arrived just before i go…)

On Topic:
The mountain was same as Canada Hill in Miri…
I saw a lot of Local Kiwi came here for jog…
And 80% of them brought their doggies as well~
The lady below brought 3 doggies and 1 more on her hand!

Beside wonderful view, (felt more nature with the large field of grass)
There is a more advantage, no mosquito!
I can walk slowly and enjoy the view, without racing with the moquito~

After some walk, finally see the sheep in NZ!

Meh~

Luckily I bring some bread, could use it to lure a lot of Pukeko and Duck over here…
(Pukeko was like Malaysia “Mikai”, could see it over the street, but it swim-able~)

Wanna take a walk to beach after a rest…
But gave up because of laziness, hunger and bad weather~
Lastly I regretted because the weather turned almost prefect!
The sky was full with the golden light ray!
If now I was at the beach, I should able to shot a more beautiful sunset than Miri~
At least I able shot some photo around Ashley HomeStay…
天使云~ Angel Wing Cloud~夕阳,Sunset

Because of lacking travel fund
I had to end my day in Ashley Homestay…
Next station will be working in Tauranga/Tepuke
Thanked God for bringing me to such a lovely place to start my journey…
Hope I’ll be able to return this home again for my return trip!
Pray hard for my journey because pocket is getting empty!
